As Westwater Construction of Sarasota and Bruce Williams Homes of Bradenton have recently done, a big local home builder is shifting its emphasis to remodeling during the housing slowdown.
John Cannon Homes has expanded its services to include renovations of homes in Sarasota, Manatee and Hillsborough counties. "The remodeling process is quite complicated and very multifaceted, and requires one-point professional control from beginning to end," said company president John Cannon. "With over 20 years' experience in the construction industry, and with our reputation as design/build specialist, we feel the time is right to move into this niche.
"Clients can have a newer home at their old address, with the benefits of their renovations meeting today's green building standards."
Recently, Cannon completed renovations of multimillion- dollar homes in both the Lakewood Ranch and Lake Shore neighborhoods.
The new division offers a full range of services for residences and businesses. John Cannon is a certified, licensed, Class A contractor in Florida. This allows the company to build any type of structure within the state.
"The diverse experience of our team -- in home building, retail, office buildings, government buildings, hotels and restaurants -- allows us to be the homeowner's single source for any or whole house renovations that need to be performed," Cannon said.
